Pocket Lint – Julianna Ponte Dress

I’m going to be posting a lot about Boden because they have a great line of dresses that are high quality and many (not all) have pockets. I first fell in love with Boden dresses about 6 years ago after a co-worker tipped me off to them. Their dresses are not cheap, but last years and you can often find good deals in their clearance section.

This Spring I purchased the Julianna Ponte Dress for several reasons – 1) IT HAS POCKETS;  2) it has 3/4 length sleeves which I appreciate because then I don’t have to figure out what type of sweater to wear with it; and 3) it’s a pretty flattering fit that is pretty forgiving. I ended up liking it so much that I bought it in two different colors – a fun green with white stars/dots and a classic black.

The quality of the dress is fantastic. It’s a sturdy fabric that I’m not concerned about wrinkling or getting damaged by regular wear. It looks great with boots, heels, or sandals,  making it incredibly versatile.

However, the best part of this dress is obviously the pockets. This dress has fantastic pockets. My phone fits in there. My keys fit no problem.

The pockets on the Julianna Ponte Dress are so deep that my entire hand fits. There’s plenty of room for an iPhone 7.

The Julianna Ponte Dress is currently in the women’s clearance section of Boden in black and red. I hope this is a style they bring back after summer.

Pocket Lint

Is pocket lint something you’ve never experienced? That’s probably because you wear clothes marketed to women and the fashion industry has decided that you don’t need pockets. Or if your clothes do have pockets, they may be 1) fake or 2) so shallow they are unusable.

I am always on a quest to find clothes – especially work clothes – that have functional pockets. In my career, I’m often at events or in situations where I’d like a place to stash my phone or business cards but need them readily accessible. I also have allergies, so having a tissue at hand is convenient. There was a time when I had an impressive purse collection, but after needing a bag to carry my laptop around during the work week and needing a diaper bag on the weekends, I’ve become much more minimal. As  long as I have my phone (with a case that can hold a credit card and my ID) and keys, I’m good to go.

But finding clothes that have pockets or pockets big enough to fit these things is near impossible. So, on my Pocket Lint blog, I’ll be posting about specific items, sites, or companies I find that sell clothing with truly functional pockets. I might also post about my gripes with the fashion industry and the pocket discrimination dominating women’s fashion. If you have a pocket tip for me, feel free to post it in the comments and I’ll check it out.

May we all enjoy a wardrobe full of pockets – and pocket lint!
